Special Education - Resource Teacher
My name is Jody Wiggins and I am the Special Education teacher at Nakoda Elementary School. I have worked for Stoney Education Authority since 2013 and it has been amazing!! I began my special education pathway when I was 15 years old as a Special Olympics intermediate swim coach. In 2001, I went back to school to become a Special Ed assistant and after 2 years I decided to go to University to get my first degree. My major was communication and culture with a minor in sociology. Then I completed my second degree in Elementary Education.
Every individual I have ever worked with has taught me life lessons. The top two lessons are: everyone can learn something andMstakes are a part of learning. I also love learning and teaching.
I was born in Calgary and raised between Alberta and Texas. By the time I graduated high school I had attended 13 different schools. This experience has been invaluable. It taught me that there is more than one way of doing things.
I currently live in Cochrane, AB, and moved there for my second time in 2001.
My career at Nakoda, has been so rewarding. I enjoy seeing my students and thier families everyday . I am honored to be able to work in such an amazing place and community.
